Meet the wonderful Megan, class of 2024! It’s been a few years in the discussion to get to her senior session since I also photographed her brother (see his senior session here) and her sister (see her senior session here). It’s finally Megan’s turn! This family is amazing, and I’m so excited to see them back next month for a sibling session…stay tuned! The achievements of these three siblings and involvement in scouting is nothing short of amazing, not to mention their character and charming personalities–and Megan is no exception. I think you’ll see why when you keep reading.
What will you miss about high school?
I am going to miss my friends the most. I have met so many amazing and interesting people from all over the Denver Metro area at Regis Jesuit and I am going to miss seeing them and hanging out with them every day. I am hopeful to keep in touch with my friends as we all go off to college in different states, but am super excited for the opportunity to meet more amazing people from all over the United States and those coming from abroad.
Why have you chosen to attend Notre Dame after you graduate and what do you plan to study?
I have chosen to attend Notre Dame because of the supportive collaborative environment and the diverse community. Both of my siblings attend Notre Dame and have shared with me all of the cool things they get to do in college. I am so excited to be at the same university with them next year. My brother will be in graduate school and my sister will be a junior. I am planning to major in architecture and minor in art history. My junior year as an architecture student will be in Italy where we will literally be studying in the streets. I have to take Italian in preparation for the year abroad. I also hope to play my piccolo in the notorious Notre Dame Marching Band. Go Irish!
What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
One of my favorite childhood memories is planting flowers and the vegetable garden with my mom and siblings every spring. We would have an annual ladybug release too. I loved it when the ladybugs landed on my arms and walked onto my hands. I’m great at harvesting veggies, but am not a fan of eating them. Another favorite memory is going overnight camping with my family at Jack Nicol Cub Scout Camp by Red Feather Lakes. Campfire time, shooting BB guns and a bow and arrow are highlights. Camping was so fun I slept right through breakfast on my first trip. My siblings and I are close. I’ve also followed in their footsteps and work at Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch as the lake director during the summer. Canoeing is my favorite merit badge to teach.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that everything happens for a reason and people cross your path for a reason. Whenever a decision is made it is meant to be. Not everyone you build a relationship with will be a lifelong friend. You have to be patient in finding both the perfect people to support and the ones that will support you and help you grow as a person.
Megan, congratulations on a job well done. Best wishes for your time at Notre Dame. It’s going to be amazing!
