Meet baby Jonathan! He’s got a precious story and I am delighted to help tell it. The journey for some is long, and the road to parenthood is a bit harder than it is for others. That was the case for this beautiful couple who longed for a child. I am grateful mom would share some of their story since there are so many who can relate. Their story ends beautifully, or maybe it’s more appropriate to refer to it as their beginnings. It’s the beginning of a deeper love than they’ve ever known. It’s the beginning of a lifetime of sacrifice and joy. It’s the beginning of a beautiful journey of parenthood. It’s the beginning of their family of three.

Tell me about the anticipation of his arrival.
We have been hoping for a baby for quite a while! Six years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months before our wedding and we knew we would have to explore various family planning options. In March of 2022 we signed on with an agency to be matched with a gestational surrogate. In early fall of 2023 we matched with our amazing surrogate and Jonathan finally arrived in September of 2024!
How was his delivery experience?
We received a call from our surrogate at 5:30 in the morning that she was having contractions and arrived at the hospital by 7:00 am. The labor progressed very fast and he was born at 8:33 am! We were so in awe of our amazing surrogate who was a champ at giving birth and were so thankful we got to be in the delivery room to witness him being born.
What does adding Jonathan to your family of three mean to you?
It has been a dream come true to add him to our family! The journey to him was hard but also incredible and special. We’re thankful for the relationship we have with our surrogate and the greatest gift she gave us – finally becoming parents!
Describe his personality and the little things that make him him.
He loves to be held for naps and sleep with his hand on his cheek. He’s been enjoying going for fall walks in his stroller and recently started making noises when he eats!
How much did he weigh at birth?
He weighed 7 lbs 15.9 ounces (they wouldn’t round up to 8 lbs!)
