Family Pictures in Downtown Denver, Colorado | D Family

After their session wrapped up, we got in our cars. I was about to drive off when I got a tap on my window. It was Daddy D. “Just wanted to say thank you for capturing so many important things in the life of our family.” he said. Flashbacks of pregnancy, adoption, newborn, baby milestones, two high school seniors, new puppy, barn animals, multiple horse shoots, and twelve years worth of family pictures made my heart squeeze tighter for a moment. Twelve years! And with their youngest being two, we’ve only just begun capturing her life and growth. Awe, that is the sweetest and the absolute best thing in the world to me!!

We had just finished up an epic, unique session in downtown Denver, unlike anything we’ve done over the many years I’ve known this family. They are going to love their decision to do their family pictures downtown this year! It was a truly special session…but then again, they’ve all been special. And I’m honored to help this family remember that their love for one another takes priority when unexpected phone calls come in, kids are sick, seasons of sorrow arrive, or difficulties come. And their love is beautiful–and fills the walls of their home with each new session we do together (I know because I’ve been in their home to see it–so special). Their love is real, genuine, and God honoring. And this is a family that I love and admire. It’s really how I feel about all my clients. But the tenure the D Family and I have shared makes them extra special.

Daddy D is usually the one to help me share their story on the blog. You can look back on a couple of those sessions and their beautiful story here:

Baby milestones —sitter session and one year session.

Maternity/adoption session

Their second daughter’s senior session

With the busyness of the holidays upon us I thought I’d write a little bit about what I observe in this family’s life and give Daddy D the year off. They have a genuine faith they are unapologetic about. They love to see others grow and pour themselves out in a very sacrificial way! They aren’t afraid of doing hard things. They invest in their kids and love to watch them take steps toward excellence. They’ve been blessed and strive to be a blessing. They are just one of those families.

D Family, may your Christmas and holiday celebrations be filled to brim with all the love you exude. Enjoy your sneak peek!
