When Roberta asked me about branding photography, I was initially reserved. After working with me for her family session, she told me she felt I was “the photographer for her” when it came to her business needs. How could I resist a plea like that? Could you? What came next was a gift. It was a beautiful relationship with Roberta and a passion to represent all of the things, HER things, that were still a dream, a vision, and ideas.
PeaceFull Living is a passion project of Roberta’s. She just launched her website early in 2020. Our first session was spring of 2019. With nearly a year in between, and many months of collaboration prior to even my involvement, you get a little insight into all of the anticipation, planning, and TIME that goes into launching a business. Roberta was MY FIRST branding session and we’ve had four sessions to date! I’ve also had two other branding clients since then that I will share with you soon! When Roberta’s site recently went live, a year after some of those initial communications, I got a text from her:
“I’m launching my website today and wanted you to be the first to know! Thank you for creating such beauty through your gift of photography.”
My response:
“Eeeeekkkkkkkk!!!!!!”
What I found on her brand new site was stunning! It was a place that reflected her heart and soul. Never before had I played this role. Never before was I given the privilege of sitting down to really listen. I asked so many questions in our pre-session consults. Roberta’s vision HAD to become my own. If it didn’t, I could not share in her journey, contribute anything of value to her vision, or expect to have an impact on helping her succeed in the sharing of her mission. Her pictures needed meaning. That meaning had to be communicated without words. And so we embarked on her vision together.
Some of the words she shared with me: Pilates, yoga, lifestyle, feeling, aliveness, beautiful, peaceful, friendly, relaxed.
Those words became the goal, the vision, and ultimately, the achievement. And of course, photographing beautiful Roberta is AMAZING! She IS peaceful, so capturing that together has become natural in our sessions.
