We snapped a photo that reminded mom of his childhood–Grant with a crawdad in his hand! His sister’s senior pictures are some of my favorites from two years ago. See them here! And now, Grant’s fishing senior pictures will be added to their walls next to hers. I’m wondering if the crawdad photo may be the one!
When you think of fishing senior pictures in Englewood, CO, you might imagine waders, a pole, and the golden light of late summer spilling across the water. For Grant, it was all of that — plus his Golden Doodle, Mae, and a few extra outfit changes that made this session full of variety and personality.
Grant has loved the outdoors for as long as he can remember. He’s a fly fisherman, happiest with a line in the water, surrounded by nature. When he mentioned wanting part of his senior session by water, I knew we could create something that felt both timeless and personal.

Session Highlights
We started the evening in the soft grasses near the trail, where the greens were warm and golden from the late summer sun. Grant’s easygoing smile, combined with his love for nature, made every frame feel natural. We mixed in portraits of him with Mae — the pup he’s had since she was a tiny ball of curls — because she’s been a big part of his growing-up years. Her goofy energy and loyal presence added a whole new layer of meaning to his photos.
From there, we headed toward the river for the fishing portion of the session. The light was perfect — that glowing “golden hour” that every photographer hopes for. Grant’s teal hoodie stood out beautifully against the water, and the way he cast his line made it look like he’d been doing it his whole life (because he has).
Grant’s Senior Session Outfits
One of my favorite things about this session was the variety. Whether you’re planning fishing senior pictures in Englewood, CO or something entirely different, variety ensures you’ll have plenty of options for your yearbook photo, graduation announcements, and prints for family.
Here’s what Grant wore:
- Teal Hoodie & Jeans – Perfect for the fishing photos. Relaxed, authentic, and outdoorsy.
- Tan Knit Polo & Jeans – A warm, textured look that paired beautifully with the river backdrop.
- Black Textured Knit Polo & Jeans – Clean, classic, and timeless.
- Neutral Plaid Jacket over White Tee & Jeans – Cozy and layered for a fall-ready vibe.
- Plain White Oversized Tee & Jeans – Simple and casual, letting his easy smile take center stage.
How to Add Fishing to Your Senior Pictures
If fishing is your thing, there are a few ways to work it into your senior photos without it feeling staged or overdone.
Choose a location with water. Rivers, lakes, and reservoirs make beautiful backdrops and instantly tie your photos to your hobby.
Shoot at golden hour. That warm evening light reflects off the water and makes everything glow.
Bring your pole and other gear if you want — but just a pole is enough if you prefer simple. Grant kept it minimal with just his fly rod, and it worked perfectly.
Wear an outfit that says “fishing.” Grant’s teal hoodie was casual, comfortable, and had the exact outdoorsy feel he wanted.
Mix posed and candid shots. We got some smiling-at-the-camera moments and some “in the moment” frames with the line in the water. Those action shots often become favorites.
