A dream is a wish your heart makes…
These sweet parents have done this all before, but there is something extra special about baby’s Theo’s arrival that has them swooning! After twelve hours of delivery, a beautiful baby boy weighing 7 pounds, 3.7 ounces is a little miracle that joined their lives. You may remember their gorgeous studio maternity session here. The excitement was hard to contain when I visited their home for their sweet and beautiful newborn session. Here’s more about Theo and his delivery from his mom.
Tell me about the anticipation of his arrival.
Very busy! I’m a teacher, and preparing to be away from my students and classes for maternity leave was a daunting task. Physically, I was so uncomfortable and tired, and my belly got bigger than I ever thought possible. He came almost two weeks early, so there’s a lot that I’m looking forward to doing on my maternity leave that I just didn’t have time to do—the nursery, first of all!!
How was your delivery experience?
Long! It started gradually, early in the morning, and he wasn’t delivered until 1:19 am the next day. At the end, his shoulder was a bit stuck; I don’t think I’ve ever physically worked as hard as I did to get him out in those final pushes. He took some time to breathe on his own, so that was a little scary. Somehow, we both came out of it unscathed! Exhausted but healthy. And deeply grateful and happy.
What does adding Theo to your family mean to you?
It means joy. Pure joy. We are a blended family, and to us, that blending just wasn’t complete without him. It means having a piece of the two of us and our love in the world, and it means having this precious, intimate experience with each other. It also means watching our kids fall in love with him and our extended family pour their hearts into this “bonus” baby, as my mom calls him. Our hearts are full. He is and will be spoiled in the all the best ways by all of his family around him.
Describe his personality and the little things that make him him.
He didn’t cry for almost a week! All the poking they do in the hospital those first days and not once did he cry. He made lots of little noises though and was already starting to hold his head up just a day after he was born! And no need to count his poops to make sure he’s healthy because he seems to dirty yet another diaper as soon as we change the last one! He’s very aware, eyes wide at the world, but sleeps good, and we’ve heard some cries from him now at home that are ALWAYS because he wants to eat again. Overall, he’s an easy, snuggly baby boy.
Welcome to the world little Theo! Enjoy your sneak peek.
