As life goes on many things change, but there are something that will always remain the same! Meet Sydney! Although her life has seen many changes, I just adore that her love for all things Disney from the time she was little is a constant. You may agree with my sentiments on the matter… she really could be a Disney princess character herself! Sydney is also in theatre and involved in some of the behind the scenes aspects too. Here’s more from Sydney!
Tell me about your love for theatre and your involvement in design.
Theater has always been my one “thing”. As a kid I tried just about every sport, but I never stuck with it. When I started performing, I knew I loved it and would want to continue doing it. Being able to work on a show will always bring a smile to my face. I get to see so many friends, be creative, and immerse myself into a new story with each performance.
Designing is one of my favorite parts of theater. Along with performing I also design hair and makeup for shows. This year, I was voted to be on the thespian honor society troupe board for my school and I am so excited to take on that role to continue my love for theater.
Do you have any thoughts on what you’d like to do after you graduate?
Once I graduate high school I plan on going to college to study biomedical sciences. I don’t know where I want to go to school yet, but I know I want to study science. I plan to work towards a career in the medical field.
What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
I was, am, such a Disney kid. I loved playing with princess dolls, I loved watching the movies, I even had 3 different Disney themed birthdays. So some of my favorite memories as a kid were going to Disney World with my family. I have been lucky to go a few times, and every time was special. Riding rollercoasters with my mom or going on the teacups when I was little, every moment was one I would not forget. One specific memory that sticks out to me was when I saw a High School Musical float during a parade and saw my favorite characters singing and dancing.
Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.
During senior year I hope to make up for the experiences that I lost because of covid. I want to be able to go to the football games again, have fun with friends, go to prom, be able to go to states for theater in Denver, and just be a normal high schooler again.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to not focus on the worst case scenario. I would always get caught up in what could go wrong, but now that I am older I’ve started learning that I can’t control everything and that everything happens for a reason.
Sydney, congratulations on such an exciting time! I wish you all the best for your senior year.
