I’m a morning girl! I get it, not everyone is. But I would like to propose that there is something just glorious I see repeated in the Psalms about the morning. When I began to tie each reference together, I thought of them like ingredients to a recipe. When combined and baked, those ingredients turn into something wonderful!
INGREDIENTS: Sing, Pray, Hear, Declare, Rejoice
SING
But I will sing of Your power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. Psalm 56:19 NKJV
PRAY
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. Psalm 5:3
But to You I have cried out, O LORD, and in the morning my prayer comes before You. Psalm 88:13
HEAR
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Psalm 143:8
DECLARE
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and your faithfulness every night. Psalm 92:2
REJOICE
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice. Psalm 65:8
*****Notice how the focus of each scripture is not at all on me, it’s on Jesus. He is Lord. He is God. To declare Him as Lord, to rejoice in Him, to hear Him, to pray to Him, to sing to Him, lifts the heart from burden to peace. When we are in the ovens of trial, there are no better ingredients to begin mixing into our lives than those above. What are the results of doing this? Well, the Psalms has something to say about that too.****
SATISFACTION AND GLADNESS
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days! Psalm 90:14
JOY
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5
