Pick me, pick me! These were my honest thoughts when Sydney and her dad contacted me about senior pictures earlier this year. She decided “fall” was what she’d like as her setting, and she wanted Colorado represented. I had the pleasure of photographing her family two years ago, and that’s when I fell in love with photographing Sydney! She was born to be on camera, and I am just giddy over her beautiful pictures. But Sydney is more than just a pretty girl, she’s caring and has put great thought into her future. I LOVE that she wants to be a doctor, and isn’t afraid of the hard work it will take to get there. She’s AMAZING!
Here’s more about Sydney!
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about science and helping people. Math and science were always my strongest subjects in school but I wanted to pair that with something useful that I could use in the real world. Being the oldest child in my family, I was used to helping out with my sisters and even enjoyed it. The day after my youngest sister was born, I was checking her with a stethoscope and giving her fake shots. I’m going to combine my passion and helping others to become a doctor and hope to make the world a better place.
Tell me about medical school, and what kind of doctor you’d like to be.
Being a Skyridge Volunteer helped me become interested in Emergency Medicine as I enjoy the fast pace and unexpectedness of each case. I plan to become an EMT during my undergraduate years and use my experience to help me in medical school. Working at Lone Tree Elementary has inspired an interest in working with children as well. I would enjoy helping improve the lives of children. It will be a long journey to become a doctor but I am not afraid to persevere and achieve my goal.
What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
My favorite childhood memories come from spending time on my grandparents’s farm in Minnesota. Before I started elementary school, my cousins and I would spend almost every week day there. I enjoyed bottle feeding calves, riding horses, milking cows, and riding in the tractor with my grandma and grandpa. I loved spending time in nature and adventuring around the farm.
Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.
I hope to make state with our Varsity Golf Team and place top 10 as team. Last year we made state but did not place well but this year the team worked hard all summer and will continue to during the school year. I have played golf all four years of high school and won the JV Championship my sophomore year. It would be a great ending to my senior year if we played well at state.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell myself to get more involved in school activities. It is an easy way to meet new people and have fun. I wish I had joined more student government clubs and tried more sports when I was younger to make more of those connections. High school is so much more fun when you’re cheering to loud you can’t hear the person sitting next to you.
So excited for you, Sydney! I hope your year is amazing and that you enjoy your sneak peek.
