It’s a favorite time of year for me as the weather warms, the days lengthen and the beautiful spring makes it’s announcement that it is finally here for good (praying for no more snow!). Let me introduce the A Family! They have twin boys, fourteen and fourteen <wink>. The love their family shares is something special and I had the honor of helping to capture it. I just adore that this family reads together, something my own family and I are trying to do more. Here’s more about the A Family!
How long have you been married?
We’ve been married for almost 16 years!
What does your family of four enjoy doing together?
We all enjoy watching movies, riding mountain bikes on local trails , traveling to visit family, playing board games/cards, and dining out for sushi or steak together. When the boys were younger we read all of the Harry Potter books aloud as a family then went to Universal Studios where the books came alive.
What was it like finding out you were having twins fourteen years ago?
Mom was absolutely delighted and instantly felt doubly blessed; Dad was more apprehensive as he thought about the logistics of taking care of two babies and managing this along with a cross-country move from North Carolina to Texas shortly after their births. We made a great team, though, and realized if we could manage this and all the challenges that came our way that first year after their birth, the rest would seem easy in comparison!
What makes these two boys laugh?
Lately they love using their mature sense of humor to surprise us and make us laugh (adult jokes)!
What has it been like having twin boys from babies to toddlers to teens?
We wouldn’t trade raising these two boys for anything in the world. Each stage of their growth has brought new joys, even the teenage years. We have more time to pursue our own hobbies and desires as the boys spend more time with friends and at’s school and sports.
Describe what your family means to you.
The secret to a happy life is having good relationships, and the most important relationships to us are our marriage and immediate family. So our family is the foundation of our lives—it’s where we invest our time and treasure. We strive to create happy memories and a home in which we all feel valued and loved for who we are individually. Sometimes we fail at this, but overall we hope our family emanates love.
