Meet Nathan! He plays baseball for Cherry Creek High School and has been accepted into the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. This is such a high honor and few are selected to receive this. He will be playing baseball for the academy (if I remember correctly… Nathan, tell me if I’m wrong about that), and training as a professional officer in areas of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps (according to the website… yeah, I cheated!) once he’s done with high school. It sounds like he will be embarking on a meaningful, challenging future! That’s incredible!! Nathan took a few moments to tell us more about himself.
Congratulations on making it into the Naval Academy! Tell me about your experience so far with the application, selection process, and the requirements to get in.
The application is a very long process and it starts a lot earlier than other colleges. There are also nominations required to get in and those come from the state representatives.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year?
I hope that we win a state championship this year in baseball
I’m excited for him! Nathan, I wish you all the best as you prepare to enter the academy. I hope your grades are high senior year, your baseball season goes well, and that your future is nothing short of everything you’ve dreamed. I can tell you’re not afraid of hard work along the way. You make me proud, and grateful that you would choose a path for yourself that involves sacrifice and service to your country. Thank you! The US Navy saw something in you that not every young person has. You should be proud, and I know your family is cheering you on with hugs and smiles all the way! Have a great senior year and enjoy your sneak peek!
