Some seniors bring quiet confidence to their session. Ethan brought that — plus a sense of thoughtfulness that made every conversation worth leaning into. He’s been dedicated to Taekwondo for most of his life, loves philosophy, and sees the world with a wide horizon in mind. In between outfit changes and different locations, we talked about him being a third degree black belt with aspirations to go even further!

Meet Ethan: Q&A
Tell me about your favorite hobby or sport.
My favorite sport is Taekwondo. I have been doing it for 14 years, my favorite aspect of it is sparring followed by board breaking. I have the privilege to teach sparring weekly, which I have been doing for 7 years, and I love the confidence and self-control the sport has built for me. I also really enjoy reading, particularly philosophy, and I find a lot of philosophical meaning in the martial arts.
Do you have any thoughts on what you’d like to do after graduation?
I am not sure what I want to do but I want to do something with any of the following topics: economics, philosophy, martial arts. Additionally, I want to travel the world and become a polyglot, as I think it is of the utmost importance to see yourself as a child of the world rather than one citizen of a nation.
What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
Getting my first degree black belt when I was ten; skiing my first double black with my family at Copper Mountain in Union Bowl; our first ski vacation to Crested Butte; spending time with my best friend on the trampoline teaching ourselves flips.
Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.
I want to get all A’s, place top 3 in Deca state, and be a nationals finalist in Deca.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Trust your intuition, develop your gifts, learn as much as you can, create goals that align with your intuition, and do so much volume that mastery is inevitable.
His Outfits
Ethan’s session was the perfect mix of casual and polished. He brought pieces that were versatile, comfortable, and classic for outdoor portraits.
- White textured long-sleeve crew paired with dark denim — clean, timeless, and perfect for the warm golden grass.
- Olive quarter-zip sweater layered over a brown shirt with jeans — a relaxed look that paired beautifully with the greenery and river backdrop.
- Dark green bomber jacket over a white tee with light-wash jeans — sharp and modern, great for the paths lined with tall grass.
- Solid brown long-sleeve with worn-in jeans — a simple, easygoing style that worked perfectly on the rocks by the water.
- Muted sage crewneck sweatshirt — casual, understated, and fitting for a seated, more relaxed moment in the tall grass.
Closing
Ethan, you have a rare combination of discipline and curiosity — and it’s going to take you places. Whether that’s the corner of a quiet library, a sparring ring, or somewhere across the globe, you’re already living with intention. I can’t wait to see where it takes you next! Have a great senior year!
