Logan | Big Dreams, Hockey, and Aerospace Engineering

There’s a lot to admire about Logan.

He’s the varsity goalie for his high school hockey team, plays JV tennis, co-founded and serves as co-president of the engineering club, volunteers with Special Olympics, and hopes to study aerospace engineering after graduation.

But beyond his accomplishments, Logan has an easy smile, a love for his family, and big dreams for the future. I loved hearing about what led him to hockey, why aerospace engineering caught his attention, and the advice he would give his younger self.

Here’s more about Logan in his own words.

Tell me about your involvement in ice hockey.

I started playing hockey at the beginning of eighth grade as a player, not a goalie. After about a year, I decided I wanted pucks shot at me at 60 miles an hour for some reason, so I switched to goalie. I play for my high school team, and I’m excited for this season!

Tell me about your interest in aerospace engineering and where you’d like to attend college.

I’ve always been interested in space, and I love to design, iterate, and build things, so aerospace seemed like the way to go. I am applying to a lot of schools, but my top three are USC, Stanford, and CU Boulder.

What are some of your favorite childhood memories?

My favorite childhood memories are anytime I was with my siblings and my parents.

Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.

One thing I hope to accomplish this senior year is to make it to the playoffs with my hockey team.

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be to relax because everything will work out. I used to be very stressed about high school and grades and things of that nature, but now that I know it works out, I would want to not worry as much.

Logan, thank you for spending the evening with me. It was a joy getting to know you, and I hope your senior year is filled with great memories, a hockey playoff run, and exciting college decisions. I have no doubt you’ll continue to build, create, and make a difference wherever life takes you. Congratulations on this milestone!
