Family with Special Needs Daughter Photography in Parker, Colorado

Meet the R Family!  Last year, their youngest daughter (E) turned one and I had such a wonderful time getting to know this family at E’s smash cake session.  The R Family is back and this time they all got dressed up and looked stunning for family pictures.  Because of their humungous, beautiful hearts for children with disabilities, I hold this family in very high regard!  You can read a portion of their story which mama R shared on the smash cake session post.  She explained that they were in the middle of adopting a little one with Down syndrome when their youngest daughter came along, and other circumstances outside their control put a halt temporarily to their plans for adoption. Their middle daughter (O) has Down syndrome, and you will see below that she is a sweet gift from God and oh so loved by her family! So are each of their other daughters (a gift, and loved). Mama calls them their greatest joy and grandest adventure… <heart melting>.

Here’s more from mama R:

How old are your kiddos?

G is six, O is four, and E is one.

What does your family enjoy doing together?

We enjoy traveling, cooking, pool days, going to the aquarium and meeting other special needs families. For us, it’s less about the activity and more about being intentionally present with each other.

What makes you guys laugh together?

Our children are our greatest joy and grandest adventure. There is truly never a dull moment in our home! The mundane becomes magical when you learn to see it through the eyes of children.

What is one thing about this season of life that you don’t want to forget?

These are our golden years. With a culture obsessed with looking towards the next life phase, it can be easy to miss the present. We are often reminded that today is a precious blessing and that tomorrow is not a guarantee.

Describe what your family means to you.

As the cheesy adage goes, family is everything. The Lord’s intentionality in creating our family is an undeniable testament to His forethought and kindness. We pray that our family radiates Christ’s love—our story for His glory!

R Family, you do radiate Christ’s love.  Thank you for sharing a little of your story with us, both in words and through the precious pictures below that tell so much more without any words needed.  Enjoy your sneak peek!
