Adult Kids Family Session Outdoors in Parker, Colorado

Family… the ones who know you the best and love you the most.  This family came together for a recent celebration.  E graduated high school!  He was one of my 2022 seniors last year.  You can visit his session here from late last summer.  I adored him then, and now with his family I am tickled to show off their beautiful session.

Here’s more about this family from mom:

What was graduation like for E?

Graduation was COLD! And exciting. E had senioritis from day one of his senior year, so he was so ready to graduate and go on to college. So, for him, there was an undercurrent of excitement and anticipation to get that piece of paper, as his head and his heart were already out of high school.

What does your family enjoy doing together?

We’ve always been an outdoorsy family. When the kids were younger, we would spend many weeks boating during the day and camping at night. We did finally sell the boat though in order to travel to new places the kids hadn’t seen (Alaska, Yellowstone, Glacier, the Tetons, Washington DC, New York, Plymouth, Boston, Niagara Falls, San Diego, Mexico, and more). We own property in the mountains (Fairplay) where we’ve made our own little campground with a family of moose that like to stop by and visit, and hopefully will start building our cabin very soon. We also love cooking yummy meals together on our numerous smokers and grills, as well as trying new and challenging recipes (like chicken mole).

What makes you guys laugh together?

We love funny movies (like Christmas Vacation and The Birdcage), and are never too concerned with laughing at ourselves (like when we do ugly sweaters around the holidays). Silly animal videos make the rounds on our family texts. We also love playing boardgames, which always entail much laughter.

What is one thing about this season of life that you don’t want to forget?

It’s actually pretty great having adult kids. We get to have really intense conversations about big life decisions while still giving each other room to disagree at times. I also love that they’re adults but still choose to come home and spend time with the ‘rents. We get to watch them discover who they are as adults while still guiding them when solicited (and sometimes not solicited). Overall, it’s just amazing seeing what good human beings they’ve become and how they’re interacting and giving to the world around them.

Describe what your family means to you.

Everything. It’s knowing that someone always has your back – no matter what. And even though home is often where we act our worst, it’s where you’re always loved the most. No matter what life throws at you, you’re never alone – you can always go home.

G Family, enjoy your sneak peek!
