This is the stunning Emily! She’s a gymnast, a lover of books, and has a fun personality that brings warmth everywhere she goes. You can see her charisma coming out in her senior pictures, which I just adore. She will be a senior at Valor Christian High School this coming year, and her ambitions are admirable! Here’s more about Emily!
Tell me about your love for gymnastics and books.
I have been doing gymnastics my whole life. I fell in love with college gymnastics after watching a meet at DU, and I have dreamed of being part of a college team ever since. Gymnastics is not only a sport that takes grit, but it’s a sport that gives life lessons. A couple of things gymnastics has taught me to be: persistent, confident, humble, efficient, grateful, and to most importantly maintain a positive attitude.
I am half introverted and extroverted. My introverted self loves to stay at home and read a book. My extroverted self wanted to discuss everything about the book. I started a book club with my friends at Valor. It sounds very nerdy, but reading is fun and can help with writing and comprehension.
Do you have any thoughts on what you’d like to do after you graduate?
I definitely want to do college gymnastics. My dream is to compete for a D1 school. That school is currently undecided, but I am working towards finding my best fit and on recruitment. I don’t know what I’ll major in, but I do want to be some type of lawyer in the future.
What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
When I think of my childhood, I think of my sibling being around all the time. My three siblings and I loved to play outside all day. We also LOVE legos. So when we weren’t outside we were building legos. Now we are all growing up, and we are starting new lives. I miss just doing random stuff with them when we were kids.
Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.
I hope to find a college that I love and be able to have a spot on their gymnastics team.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Enjoy your youth! Don’t try to grow up so early. Stay a kid as long as possible.
You’ve got impressive talents and interests, Emily, and I wish you the very best with your gymnastics and your senior year!
