To My Seniors and Their Families,
The majority of us learned today that remote learning will continue through the end of the year due to the Coronavirus Health Crisis. Heading into senior year, we knew we’d need some Kleenex come spring, but none of us expected to be needing it for these reasons. On the heels of this announcement, it was in my heart to reach out to all of my seniors on this historic day in your lives because frankly, I’ve been thinking about you!
==============
Today marks the day that your reality has become something you didn’t plan for.
Today marks the day that your true character is revealed.
You’ve worked hard your entire life, and learned that nothing comes easy.
You’ve been given a task, a unique one.
You, if anyone among us, have the kind of perseverance it takes to come out victorious and strong!
You were born into a world rocked by 911. This shaped you.
You’re graduating during the worst pandemic of our lifetimes. This too will shape you.
Oh boy, will you have stories to tell your children!
You will rise above this!

I just want to remind you of a few things you each told me. I hope you can remain true to your own words of wisdom, even now. Here’s what YOU said about stress, priorities, talking it out, using your time wisely, being excited for the future, perspective, and working hard without regret. I hope you will find some inspiration in your own words.
Don’t stress too much, life flies by. Enjoy the now and look forward to the future but don’t stress about it. -Bradley
One thing my younger self should know is that the best thing to do is always just talk it out and high school is not forever. -Meredith
Use your time wisely: many problems arose from how my priorities were aligned… -Zak
…High school is so much more fun when you’re cheering too loud you can’t hear the person sitting next to you. – Sydney
It doesn’t matter what people think. Just be yourself unapologetically. -Audra
Be excited for the future and don’t worry too much. Things that seem like a big deal now will seem much smaller later on. -Jessica
To be more confident in myself, and to not care as much about what other people think. -Tessa
Don’t let peer pressure effect you… -Renee
If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be to enjoy myself more, and not to be so serious about some things… -Josh
I would tell myself to work harder at school during freshman year. -Will
Don’t sweat the small stuff, have more fun. -Alli
This year I’d like to… commit myself to the future. -Addie
Don’t stress out so much… -Anna
KEEP DREAMING BIG, class of 2020! You will STILL accomplish big things. Maybe even BIGGER because you had to rise up in adversity. HUGS and lots of love from me today and as you carry out your senior year toward graduation! We’re still cheering you on!!!!!!!!! I’m PROUD of you!!!!!
