From the minute they held her tiny body in their arms of love, she knew where she belonged. Meet Drew! She’s a lovable, tiny baby girl with a mind of her own. I chuckled with Mom and Dad that I predict she will be a rock climber. It was her opinions that she voiced, yes at seven days old, that gave me the sense that she will be a woman of independence, carefree, and full of life. But let’s not have her growing up too fast. For now, she will give all the snuggles, sweet baby sounds, and love that she has to give. And Mom and Dad will gladly accept every last ounce of it all, and give it right back to her. Mom was ever so sweet to share more for the blog.
Tell me about your pregnancy and the day Drew was born.
My pregnancy was fairly typical right up until the very end when I was induced due to pre-eclampsia with severe features. After what was ultimately a failed induction, Drew was born via Caesarean section just before dawn at exactly 38 weeks. She weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long. It was a cloudless morning and the three of us watched the sunrise light up a panoramic view of the front range all the way to Pike’s Peak from the University Hospital PACU shortly after her arrival. Not a bad first sunrise.
Describe her personality.
From her first moments, it was apparent that Drew is not fond of hats. She loves to be snuggled and likes swaddles, though we hypothesize that this apparent regard for swaddles is more about her appetite for challenge. She has become an adept problem solver and easily breaks free from a swaddle she has grown tired of. She’s a rather easy-going baby but will let you know when she doesn’t approve of something.
What does adding Drew to your family mean to you?
Drew is our first child, so her arrival into our lives changes everything. We are excited to embark on this new grand adventure as a family of three.
M Family, your joy is apparent, and your love for Drew, the sweetest it could be. What an honor I had celebrating her life. I hope you enjoy her sneak peek!
