I wish I could’ve been there—trudging through mossy graveyards in the Southern heat, listening to stories passed down through generations, and tasting every bite of the South’s best food with them. I’ve known this family for years, but hearing about their epic summer of ancestry adventures and Civil War history made me wish I could’ve lived it right alongside them.
This family has four kids–two sets of twins. And I’ve loved watching them grow up.
Now, the oldest girls are about to head back to college. They were roommates last year for their freshman year, but this fall brings a whole new college experience for them both.
Meet the G Family Family: Q&A
What was one of your favorite family trips?
A few summers ago, we took the kids to explore the South on two trips. Our first trip was to Hilton Head, Charleston, and Savannah. We love history and good food, so this trip was a treat. Our second trip that summer was to Tennessee and North Carolina. We mixed in some family ancestry graveyard searches along with amazing Civil War-era history and (of course) more good food. It was a lot to pack into one summer—but it was worth it.
What does your family enjoy doing together?
We enjoy basic, everyday life together. We love watching movies or shows and playing board games the most. Oh—and good food. We’re foodies and find ourselves gathered around great meals with extended family often.
What makes you laugh together?
I asked the kids, and their answer was “sarcasm.” We’ve got some quick wit in this crew. There’s a growing list of inside jokes that keeps conversations interesting. Laughter really is the best medicine, so I try to keep it going when needed—even if it means breaking out some fantastically horrible dance moves. We don’t take ourselves too seriously around here.
G Family, your laughter brings warmth to the world around you–including me. What beautiful family pictures to cherish always! Thank you for the honor of being a part of your lives for so many years.
