He was a teeny-tiny 3 pounds, 5 ounces. After 52 days in the NICU, little Zayden finally joined his family at home. This sweet baby was born at 31 weeks, which was juuuust a bit earlier than mom and dad expected. Little Zayden did so well in the NICU, and by his newborn session at 3 months (only 3 weeks beyond his due date) he was a healthy 9 pounds! Way to do Zayden! Here’s more from Zayden’s Mom:
Tell me about the anticipation of his arrival.
With Zayden being 9 weeks early we definitely didn’t anticipate his arrival into this world. Once he was here though we couldn’t wait to get him home. It was nerve racking every day he was in the NICU. But there was also a lot of hope and excitement as he progressed through each milestone. As we got to the end we got more and more anxious for him to be released and when the day finally came we were ecstatic.
How was your delivery experience?
I started having contractions on Tuesday morning and by Tuesday evening my water had broke. With me going into labor so much earlier than my due date, the doctors tried to delay the birth as long as possible. On Thursday evening at 5:44 p.m.. Zayden made his appearance after 20 minutes of active labor.
What does adding Zayden to your family of three mean to you?
This may sound cliche but it means everything. We both wanted to have a child so bad. Zayden is everything we could have ever asked for and they can only imagine that there’s still so much more that we haven’t yet discovered.
Describe his personality.
Zayden is happy and vocal. He loves to smile and giggle himself to sleep. He seldom fusses outside of being hungry. He’s already extremely curious about the world around him.
