Why, God? Part II

I believe in physical healing.  I believe in Jehovah Rapha.  I believe that nothing is impossible for Him.  I believe He heals today, miraculously, just as He did when He walked on the earth.  The same power that created the universe has absolutely no limitations.  But God does not heal every time we ask.

Eddie Taylor was made whole in the presence of Jesus early this morning when he was taken to heaven.  I wanted to update those who have been praying who may not be linked to my personal Facebook page, or to Calvary Aurora.

In the Bible, Gideon, a man of God, asked God the “why?” question.

“Oh my lord, if the Lord is with us, why has this happened to us?” Judges 6:13 NKJV

As I first read this passage, only a few days ago, it peaked my curiosity to see what God would answer.  I found it interesting that the Lord didn’t answer Gideon’s “why” question directly. But He did answer Gideon in the way He often answers each one of us.

“And the Lord said to him, ‘Surely I will be with you’…” Judges 6:16 NKJV

God asks for our trust.  He can be trusted.  The greatest trust comes when we don’t have the answers we desperately want (the “why”) but we choose to trust Him anyway.  With ALL our heart, the proverbs say, leaving no room for reservation (Proverbs 3:5).  I believe that God honors that kind of trust because it involves a deep faith that what He says is true.  It involves a deep faith that He is who He says He is – GOD.  No matter what.  We seldom get the why answered.  But He’s asking of each of us, “will you trust me, even if you never know why?”  all the while reassuring us that we can be SURE He is with us.

I have faith in His word, and He says one day we will have those answers we seek.

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV

Until that day, we trust Him.  Until that day, we serve Him with our whole heart, loving Him and entering into His presence continually asking Him for our own emotional healing from the intense, deep, pain and suffering this fallen world brings.  Until that day we lean upon His word because without it, we would perish in our affliction (Psalm 119:92).  Until that day we have faith, which like Abraham will be accounted to us as righteousness.  Until that day we hope in Him alone.  And until that day we find peace when we experience that He is with us through the valley of the shadow of death, bringing us comfort.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV

The reason that love is the greatest is that one day our faith will be realized when we see Jesus face to face.  Our hope will be completed on that day we stand before Him and hear “well done, good and faithful servant” knowing that we were redeemed only by the blood of Jesus, not by anything we could have done on our own.  The thing that will remain on that day, is love.  God’s love.  It’s eternal.  It’s forever.
