“How long will I love you? As long as the moon and stars are above you.” Meet Rowan! His parents are in love… to the moon and back. He’s a tiny big guy who weighed in at ten pounds, 9 ounces at birth – and that was even three weeks early! And all the quotes about the moon are because this precious little one got to debut the moon pillow I just made, right before his session. I’m over the moon about it! <wink, wink>
I always love it when Mom shares the sweetest details about her baby with me. Here’s more from Rowan’s mom!
Tell me about the anticipation of his arrival.
We were getting very excited to see Rowan. We had just moved into a new larger apartment and were trying to get everything set up for his arrival. His grandparents were also thrilled since he is the first grandchild on both sides of our family, and they were planning to visit. We hadn’t seen our families in a while due to COVID-19, so we were looking forward to getting everyone together for his birth.
How was your delivery experience?
Rowan was due on April 28 but as the date got closer, our doctor recommended an earlier delivery. I have Type 1 Diabetes so Rowan was slightly large in size. He was also breech, so the doctor recommended a C-section, which we scheduled for April 12. Having just moved into our new apartment at the beginning of April, this advancement in schedule worried us a bit, but we still would have a little over a week to move and unpack what we could. However, Rowan had his own schedule! On our third night in our place, Rowan broke my water and we frantically packed some things for the hospital. Our early bird arrived shortly after midnight (on my husband’s birthday!). During our delivery one of the nurses sang happy birthday to both of them. After delivery, we received an anonymous gift for the first boy born on April 6 in honor of the giver’s father. Even though the early delivery was a chaotic experience, it seemed meant to be that he arrived when he did.
What does adding Rowan to your family of three mean to you?
J (Rowan’s Dad) and I have been together for twelve years. We are best friends and have a lot of fun together. We are looking forward to welcoming Rowan into our lives and teaching him about all the things we love.
Describe his personality.
So far Rowan is a fairly laid-back guy. He gets excited at meal times and is generally not too fussy. We like to spend time outside, and he has been game to ride in his stroller so far, despite the ups and downs of the typical Colorado spring weather.
Congratulations to this beautiful family! Your baby boy is adorably sweet, and lovable. I hope you savor all those moonlit nights together as he grows.
