She has a passion for the outdoors. So much passion, she wants a career in environmental studies centered around it once she completes her high school studies. Meet the beautiful Lauren! She’s a senior at Legend High School in Parker, Colorado, class of 2021. We welcomed the golden sunlight that followed us around the beautiful outdoor setting she choose. I fell in love with that water, and with Lauren. I think you’ll see why! Here’s more about Lauren:
Tell me about your love for the mountains and the outdoors.
When I think about some of my favorite memories, they take place outdoors. Being outside has always made me happy because I was always with people I love, like my family and friends. I absolutely love going to the mountains because I’m always more relaxed and happy there. In the winters we go skiing all the time, and I look forward to it so much because I don’t have to think about anything other than the mountains and snow. In the springs and summers, my friends and I go camping and hiking and it’s just always a such a great time. Being outdoors has just always been relaxing and peaceful for me.
How has the pandemic changed your thinking about school, your future, or just life in general?
The pandemic brought me closer to my family because we had to spend way more time together then we’ve ever had to before. Having dinner together, watching movies, and playing board games ended up not being the worst thing in the world. The pandemic overall showed me to hold on to the people closest to me.
Do you have any thoughts on where you’d like to study environmental science?
Right now, I’m hoping to study environmental sciences at either Montana State University in Bozeman, or Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. Both of these colleges center themselves around nature and have great environmental science programs. I want to put a lot of my focus on environmental sustainability in hopes of making the planet a better place.
Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.
I hope to spend as much time as possible with my best friends and create enough memories to last a lifetime. After high school, we don’t know where we’ll all end up, so we want to make the most of the time we still have together. This is definitely not a normal senior year, so I want to make it the best that I can.
If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to not get hung up on the little things, and sometimes there are things that are just out of your control.
Lauren, it’s wonderful that you want to care for our planet, and I hope your passion takes you in amazing directions after your senior year is complete.
