Senior Photo Ideas for Girls: Katie’s Dreamy 7 Looks in Aurora, Colorado

If you’re searching for senior photo ideas for girls or wondering how to style your own high school session, Katie’s shoot is full of inspiration. She nailed it—every outfit, every detail. Her style was effortless and fun, from her jewelry to her classic hairstyle to her perfect outfit choices.

Katie is heading into her senior year at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colorado, and I was so honored to photograph her senior pictures. She first heard about me through her soccer teammate, Lily, who had her own session last year and shared how much she loved the experience. It means so much to serve these amazing students and their families—I truly love every single one of my senior sessions.

Katie’s session was everything senior picture dreams are made of.
The long grasses danced in the breeze.
The sound of the running creek was peaceful.
The glow of the sun touching Katie’s hair also put a sparkle in her eyes.

Katie’s 7 Looks: What to Wear for Senior Photos

If you’re planning your senior pictures and wondering what to wear, Katie’s session offers a real-life guide to outfit variety, creativity, and confidence. From feminine dresses to comfy denim, these senior photo ideas are as stylish as they are wearable.

1. The Polished Black & White

Her smocked black top and polka dot midi skirt made for a timeless combo. This outfit worked beautifully in the tall grass—elevated yet grounded. Wearing a minimal amount of black can be striking in outdoor settings, and the subtle pattern added just enough visual texture without distraction. A perfect fit for standing poses with flow in the skirt.

2. The Bold Red Statement

Katie’s sleeveless red top paired with dark high-rise denim was bold and confident. It photographed especially well during golden hour and added variety to her gallery. Solid colors like this are ideal for close-up portraits and classic standing shots—especially when the goal is to highlight eyes, skin, and hair without competition with prints.

3. Breezy White & Blue Embroider

Soft, flutter sleeves and detailed stitching made this white and blue embroidered top a standout. Worn with relaxed denim, it was casual and airy with a touch of charm. Breezy fabrics like this catch the light and pair well with field or creekside locations—especially when there’s a gentle wind in play.

4. The Playful Chocolate & Whimsy

This brown peplum top with embroidered shorts (yes, the tiny fish!) showed off Katie’s playful side. Worn with boots or barefoot on the rocks, it was unexpected in the best way. If you want to bring personality to your senior session, don’t be afraid to include one outfit that’s just you—colorful, fun, and full of spirit.

5. White Dress + Western Boots

Katie’s flutter-sleeve white dress paired with cowboy boots was classic Colorado—soft and feminine, with a strong finish. We photographed this look by the water, and it glowed in the backlight. White dresses are timeless and very popular for senior girls and especially beautiful for sunset sessions.

6. Casual Pink & Comfy-Cute

Soft pink cropped pants, a white eyelet top, and casual sneakers gave Katie a laid-back, natural look. Perfect for sitting poses, close-ups, or walking the trail. This is the kind of outfit every senior should include—something easy and personal that feels like them.

7. Americana Summer Vibes

The red gingham top, denim skirt, and antique chair in the field captured a nostalgic summer feeling. Add in the tall grass and sunset glow, and the whole scene felt like a memory in the making. Patterns like gingham or florals can photograph beautifully when styled with intention.

Meet Katie – In Her Own Words

The day after her session, I asked Katie a few questions about her senior year and beyond. She began her interview with: “Hi! Thank you so much – I had such a fun time last night!! I’m so excited to see the sneak peek, I already know they’re going to be amazing.

Oh my goodness, Katie! Your photos ARE amazing!! Thanks for sharing some things about your childhood, your passions, your senior year goals, and your future plans! It has made this senior photos ideas post just as personal and warm as you are.

Tell me about soccer

I’ve played soccer pretty much my whole life – it’s always been a huge part of who I am. I love being on a team, pushing myself, and just having fun on the field. I definitely want to keep playing as long as I can, even if it’s just for fun after high school.

Do you have any thoughts on what you’d like to do after graduation?

After graduation, I’m hoping to study business at a really great college! I’ve always loved being creative and organized, so I’d love to combine that with something like marketing or even start my own business someday.

What are some of your favorite childhood memories?

Some of my favorite childhood memories are summers at the beach or the lake with my family – swimming all day, roasting marshmallows at night, and just spending time outside with the people I love.

Tell me one thing you hope to accomplish your senior year.

One thing I really hope to accomplish my senior year is just to soak it all in. I want to stay focused on my goals, of course, but also make the most of every moment and memory with my friends before we all go off in different directions.

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

If I could tell my younger self one thing, it would be to stop stressing so much and just trust the process. Everything really does work out the way it’s supposed to.

Katie ended her interview with: “Thanks again for everything!!”

And her mom melted my heart when she texted me and said: “She had the best time and I would like to thank you for that Jamie!!!! You made it so special.

Katie, and family, you’re welcome! It was an honor to be a small part of such a BIG milestone for you. I hope your senior year is everything you are dreaming it will be.
